Stockist of the Month: Spar Minster Lovell
Spar Minster Lovell is an independently owned Spar based in one of Oxfordshire’s prettiest, most picturesque villages. The lovely Minster Lovell team prioritise having a solid plant-based offering in store, including H!P bars and pouches, and we spoke to Ian, the store’s Retail Director, about the shop and the company’s commitment to sustainability.
1. What do you enjoy most about the Spar Minster Lovell store? How do you connect with your customers?
There’s not one day that is the same; we have around 5000 customers a week, so it really is a busy store. We are proud of what we’ve built over the years - the shop was founded in 1937 - so the family have always made sure that we connect with our customers no matter whether they are first time shoppers or a regular. We always welcome them with a smile and a friendly face.
2. Have you noticed an increase in the demand for plant-based products in your store?
Absolutely – there are so many great products and we would love to give them more space in store, but we are doing our best to make sure we offer as much as possible and using bright clip strips on pillars to make sure we are maximising our offer.
3. What does sustainable living mean to you?
We all have a responsibility for the planet. As a business, we must do better and make sure we are doing everything possible to make sure our carbon footprint as a business is minimal.
4. What are the three principal values you champion as a store?
